New Era College of Arts, Science & Technology welcomes New Students

New Era College welcomed its new students during orientation held at the College’s campus in
Block 8 on 4 th October 2021.
The 2021 cohort were introduced to the school by the CEO of the College, Professor Amos
Thapisa. Giving his welcome remarks, he explained, “It’s not going to be an easy journey but
with determination all of you will excel in your studies. I must thank you for choosing New Era
College as it is the home of engineering.”
Phenyo Semumu, from the Student Affairs Department, encouraged the students to partake and
take advantage of some of the Colleges leading campus clubs. He highlighted that New Era
College athletics and table tennis club has excelled extremely well in 2020/2021. “We have
students such as Thuto Masasa, Karabo Mothibi and Phodiso Rampa who have qualified for the
World University Games and had the opportunity to participate in the World Relays in Poland.”
Speaking to a new student called Amogelang Baeketi, she explained why she chose New Era
College as her first choice. “I chose New Era College because it offers Telecommunications
Engineering which I wanted to do. My passion for Telecommunications came from watching a
lot of YouTube videos were people tinkered with devices so I wanted to do it myself.”
Other speakers on the day included newly appointed Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Mrs
Glory Ifiegbu. She instructed the students to not take their education for granted and to use this
opportunity to better their lives.
