New Era College rewards excellence at top performing school in Molepolole – Borakalalo Primary

    22 May, 2023

New Era College recently participated in a PSLE victory party at Borakalalo Primary School in Molepolole in recognition of their excellent performance at last year’s PSLE examinations.

The school achieved a pass rate of 84% in last year's Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), which is above the national average of 80%. Moreover, the school was the best performing school in Molepolole and the College saw it fitting to recognize their excellence in education.

The College made a cash donation towards the school as well as the provision of three Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) kits to the school. The STEM kits provided by the College give learners skills for the 21st century such as electronics, programming and robotics which are critical to preparing young people for the workforce of the future.

The keynote speaker for the day was Professor Amos Thapisa, the CEO of New Era College who commended the school's achievement and emphasized the importance of education in building a prosperous and sustainable future for Botswana.

Speaking on the importance of this day, Professor Thapisa remarked, "Today we are all enjoying the results of that perseverance and it behoves us all to hold the teacher in the highest esteem and thank Borakalalo Primary School Teachers for the excellent job they have done.”

When handing over the STEM kits he mentioned, “Through STEM, our vision at New Era College is to create a new generation of engineers and scientists that will drive innovation and invention in existing and emerging industries, especially those in engineering, manufacturing and technology all geared towards thriving in a knowledge based economy.”

The donation by New Era College will go towards supporting the school's infrastructure and other critical needs, while the STEM kits will be used to improve the quality of education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The provision of these resources will undoubtedly go a long way in enhancing the learning environment for the school's learners.

The event was attended by  last year's PSLE leavers, the school's teaching staff and other important invited members of the community, who  expressed their gratitude to New Era College for their generous support.

The school's headteacher, Ms. Gaoforwe thanked New Era College for their support and emphasized the significance of the event for the school's learners. She said, "This is a great day for our school, and we are grateful to New Era College for their generous support."

Giving back to the community is an important part of activities at New Era College and we are always pleased to play a positive role in shaping the lives of young Batswana through supporting education at all levels in the country.
