
In line with its mandate, the faculty will infuse an interdisciplinary approach to science and technology in resolving complex issues such as sustainable development and climate change. Towards that end, the faculty is home to the School of Interdisciplinary Science and a number of strongly allied schools: Geographical Studies, Computer Science as well as Natural Resources Capital and Minerals. These will offer competencies ranging from Geographical information systems, Information technology, Cyber security, the Internet of Things (IoT), STEM and Mineral beneficiation.
INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
The range of industries impacted by the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology is wide. The faculty will however also have a strong footprint in sustainable rural development issues. It will therefore address technological rural development services required in farming: both livestock and agricultural farming as well as small to medium scale industries.
