New Era College proudly hosted the 5th edition of the National STEM Hackathon, a three-day event that brought together bright young minds under the theme: “Innovating Agriculture – The Future of Food Security through E-Agriculture.”
The Hackathon kicked off with an atmosphere of curiosity and collaboration as students engaged in tinkering and exploration, unpacking challenges in agriculture and food sustainability. Day 1 ignited creativity and set the stage for hands-on innovation, nurturing a passion for STEM and TVET careers at the grassroots level.
Day 2 transitioned into intensive problem-solving as teams rolled up their sleeves to code, assemble electronics, and develop prototypes. With guidance from mentors, students refined their projects, applying technology to design practical solutions aligned with the theme. The energy was high, and the determination was evident as participants pushed forward to bring their ideas to life.
The grand finale was a true celebration of innovation. Finalists competed head-to-head, showcasing advanced electronics and software-driven solutions. The event highlighted teamwork, creativity, and resilience, with every participant emerging as a champion. While winners were crowned, all students walked away with invaluable experience that reflects the future of Botswana’s STEM talent.
