This lecture is on forensic auditing and financial investigations across corporate, public sector, and individual contexts. Dr Masista will unpack how forensic audits are conducted in practice, moving beyond theory to examine how cases are scoped, evidence is gathered, analysed and presented and how professional judgment and ethics guide investigative work.

Speaker Biography – Dr Robert Masitara
Dr Robert Masitara is an accomplished forensic accounting and financial investigations professional with extensive experience spanning academia, professional practice, and public service. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Botswana and a Master of Science in Accounting and Corporate Finance from the University of Stirling in the United Kingdom. In recognition of his contribution to the field, he has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Forensic Accounting and Financial Management.
Dr Masitara is a member of the Institute of Certified Forensic Accountants (ICFA–USA) and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), reflecting his adherence to internationally recognised professional standards. His professional background includes senior roles in accounting and audit at leading firms such as KPMG Botswana and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
In addition to his professional practice, Dr Masitara has served as a Lecturer at the University of Botswana and previously held office as a Member of Parliament, where he chaired key parliamentary committees.
