Partnerships for Progress: Hon. Maipelo Mophuting-Dokoloti Visits New Era College

This past week New Era College was honoured to host Hon Maipelo Mophuting-Dokoloti, Area Member of Parliament for Gaborone Bonnington North and Assistant Minister for State President, during her official constituency tour. She was joined by Councillor Phenyo Dinake of Marapoathutlwa North Ward.

During her visit, Hon. Mophuting - Dokoloti shared her vision for the constituency, one based on empowering and upskilling young Batswana to unlock meaningful, gainful employment. She expressed her enthusiasm for building impactful partnerships with institutions like New Era College to help bring this vision to life.

Her campus tour offered a first-hand look at our commitment to practical, industry-relevant education. From our state-of-the-art Inclusive Education Lab, where future educators are trained to use assistive technologies such as braille machines and support visually impaired learners — to our Electrical and Construction labs, where students showcased hands-on skills in wiring, bricklaying, and more.
The tour also gave the constituency team an opportunity to reflect on some of the ongoing partnerships between her office and her institution such as the Kago Scholarship, a New Era College program aimed at giving back to the community through 10 scholarships in the building and construction program. The office of the MP played a pivotal role in executing a fair and transparent selection process for the deserving candidates from the area.

New Era College extends its sincere appreciation to Hon Mophuting Dokoloti and her team for their time and commitment to uplifting the constituency of Gaborone Bonnington North. Her visit reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between government and educational institutions, leaving our students and staff inspired to envision themselves as the next generation of leaders and innovators.

We are grateful for the growing partnership with her office and look forward to working together to create more opportunities that empower young Batswana.
