Transformative TVET in Action.

New Era College of Arts, Science and Technology was proud to participate in the TVET Pitso, hosted under the theme “Transformative TVET—A Driver for Enhanced Innovation, Social Mobility, Employability and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Growth.”

As exhibitors, we showcased the latest innovations from our TVET programs, including Construction Engineering, Telecommunications, and Electrical Engineering. Visitors to our booth experienced hands-on demonstrations such as:
Fiber optic cable splicing using advanced equipment from our Telecommunications Department;

A fully wired home electrical simulation, complete with an electronic controller box;

And our highlight—STEM Kits designed to prepare students for the future of work by building essential skills in electronics, programming, robotics, and AI fundamentals.

We had the great honor of demonstrating these STEM Kits to His Excellency the President of Botswana, sharing with him our national vision to revolutionize STEM education—starting with our 5th Annual STEM Hackathon scheduled for 26th August 2025.

In addition to the expo, New Era College also contributed to the panel discussions. Our Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Professor Cheddi Kiravu, participated in a high-level dialogue on “Optimizing the Capability of TVET Resources to Deliver Relevant and Responsive TVET Graduates”, alongside esteemed panelists including the Ambassador of Germany to Botswana, Ms. Gabriella Bannemann, and Mr. Clement Boutillier, Head of the EU Delegation to Botswana.
Prof. Kiravu emphasized our proactive approach to aligning TVET with industry needs, stating:
“At New Era College, we believe in producing graduates who are not just certified—but skilled, adaptable, and ready to add value from day one. Our programs are built around industry partnerships, hands-on labs, and emerging technologies to ensure our graduates are workforce-ready.”

He further highlighted the importance of innovation-driven learning:
“The future of TVET is in blending traditional trades with digital competencies—from fiber optic installations to AI-powered systems—and that’s exactly where we are leading the charge.”
Our participation at this year’s TVET Pitso reflects our unwavering commitment to driving skills development, entrepreneurship, and innovation for sustainable economic growth in Botswana and beyond.
